Aloha from Waiau … I’m Mrs. Iwata one of the third grade teachers. I am also a Media Club Advisor along with Mrs. Kurasaki.  I am a graduate of the University of Hawai’i at Manoa with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in art. I also received my Professional Diploma from UHM.

I have taught various grades in schools in the Honolulu, Central and the Leeward Districts. I’ve been teaching at Waiau for the past 20 years and it’s by far the best school in terms of the students, parents and faculty. Go Waiau!

Here at Waiau the children are provided with many learning experiences in and out of the classroom. In the third grade we encourage the children to be “Bucket Fillers.” A bucket filler is someone who takes the time to give a helping hand … give a warm smile and say “hi” … being thoughtful and kind … thinking of others and being positive to mention a few.

When Iʻm not in school … I enjoy spending time with my family - nieces and nephew and my rescue pets … taking pictures … listening to music … traveling … watching Ghost Adventures … learning more about Disney (love Disney … also love Snoopy) … and figuring out which idea to go with next!
