Aloha & Welcome to Waiau Elementary School!
I am Maxine Yamamoto and my job as a curriculum coordinator is to work with admin, teachers and students to promote reading, writing, math, speaking, listening and thinking. I so strongly believe that these are the keys for every student to being college and career ready!
Waiau believes in education that develops the “whole” child. Our goal is to offer rich learning experiences that go beyond our rigorous academic curriculum. We offer music, pe, track, basketball, chorus, ukulele, violin, media, robotics, etc. -- a wealth of opportunities of our students! All of our caring teachers and staff are here to provide the support necessary to welcome every student and help them be confident and joyful.
Waiau has been my home for over 25 wonderful years! I've taught 2nd, 3rd, 5th & 6th grades in addition to being the Music Teacher for many years! I am currently the curriculum coordinator assisting students, teachers and administration with student achievement. It's wonderful working with and getting to know our students and families!
In my free time, you can find me cheering on my own kids on the soccer field and at gymnastics events!
