From the appearance of the sun at Kumukahi till its descent beyond the pleasant base of Lehua...Aloha! My name is Kumu Lahela Igarta and I am from Mānana Uka. I started teaching in 1992. Teaching is my passion, my responsibility, the reason I am alive. I am thankful that I can teach music in Hawaiian and English.
I strongly believe in education that develops the “whole” child. My goal is to offer rich learning experiences that incorporate and go beyond the core academic curriculum.
Music is an art form that expresses our feelings, inspires us, and helps us understand the world. It is the foundation on which knowledge is acquired. Music is math, it is art, it is science, it is movement, it is life!
Mōhala i ka mele ka maka o nā pua Children thrive where there is music
