Aloha and Welcome! My name is Mrs. Bualuay and I am a sixth grade teacher. I began teaching here at Waiau in 1998 after graduating from The University of Hawaii at Manoa with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with emphasis in Early Childhood Education. I later received my Master's degree in Elementary Education - Curriculum and Instruction.

Throughout my teaching career, I have taught second, third, fourth and sixth grade as well as taken on the positions as Math Curriculum Coordinator and ELL Coordinator. After teaching 3rd and 4th grade for all but 2 years, I moved into sixth grade last year. Students at this age are striving to be independent and organized, strengthening their social and interpersonal relationships, and gaining a sense of self and emotional well-being. I hope to nurture those qualities throughout your child's year with me. As an elementary teacher, I believe that every child is unique, that learning is a dynamic process, that high expectations make high achievement possible, and that we all (parent, child and teacher) have a shared kuleana. I am passionate about teaching and strongly believe in nurturing the whole child and I feel very fortunate to have been a part of Waiau Elementary's 'ohana for the past 25 years.

On a personal level, I live in Waimanalo, on the other side of the Ko'olau mountain range. Growing up on the windward side, I have been blessed with the beautiful breeze of the ocean, white sandy beaches, and green mountainsides. I am also a po'e Hawai'i and take pride in that. I love the Hawaiian culture and the connections I have with ke akua, ku'u kupuna, ku'u ohana, ka lani, ke kai and ka aina. I hope to share that love with you and your child, as we all call Hawaii our home.  When I'm not in school, I enjoy camping, going to the beach and traveling with my family.
