Hi! My name is Troy Takazono and I am the proud principal of Waiau Elementary School. I grew up in Kaneohe and graduated from Castle High School. I received a bachelor’s degree and professional diploma in secondary education with an emphasis in physics from the University of Hawaii. I have been blessed with a beautiful wife, Tracy, and three wonderful children, Shea, Josiah, and Kyla. Josiah and Kyla are in their junior year at Pearl City High School and are taking advantage of Pearl City High School's wonderful academic and athletic programs.  Shea graduated from PCHS and now attends Pacific Rim Christian University.

I began my career in public education at Roosevelt High School as a science teacher. During my 5 years at Roosevelt High School I taught physical science, physics, biology, plants and animals of Hawai’i and I also coached JV football. I spent the next 5 years of my teaching career at Kapolei High School teaching physical science, physics and driver’s education. I then moved on to Pearl City High school as a vice principal. After 2 ½ years at Pearl City High School, I became the principal of Waiau Elementary School.

I became a part of the Waiau ohana in January 2008. I appreciate and enjoy working with our awesome students, staff and community. We have done many amazing things at Waiau and I look forward to doing many more. It has been a privilege serving our community as the Principal of Waiau. Kulia I Ka Nu’u!
